The outside of the case is smooth and comfortable in the hand, and the microfiber lining is soft. It's very easy to get the kindle in and out of the case, but it has a snug and secure fit. When you fold the cover of the case around to the back to read, the cover is held against the case magnetically, which keeps things neat and makes it easier to hold.
