They only work a day or two without being plugged in to charge. Sometimes the person at the door doesn't push the button exactly right and then the doorbell doesn't ring. When they are working, I love the product.UPDATE REVIEW OF PRODUCT: I am having to purchase another product. This was such a pain with a wire hanging down all the time. I have a great granddaughter, and it was dangerous for her to pull on the wire. If you didn't leave it plugged in, it would only work a short time.
