It reliably dispenses the cat food without jamming or making a lot of noise, and it does it quickly. The setup is fairly easy, although the app is not great and is nothing more than a scheduling feature. We've never had to test the the battery life as a backup option. There are a few things you need to be aware of with this feeder. There is no low food sensor, so if you place this feeder in a location that is not highly visible, this could be a problem. The amount of food it dispenses cannot be delineated into small portions, which means it is all or nothing—no half servings. The app only tells you that a feeding occurred; it does not tell you anything else. While the device connects easily to your WiFi network, it does work with Amazon's Alexa, Google's Smart Home, or Samsung's SmartThings, and instead you are forced to use yet another third-party app called SmartLife, which I, personally, don't like, as it feels like it is just there to snoop. Like, we don't have enough one-and-done apps.
