Product description Using MAX9814 Microphone Amplifier with AGC and Low-Noise Microphone Bias The MAX9814 is a high-performance, low-noise microphone amplifier featuring automatic gain control (AGC), three selectable gain settings (40dB/50dB/60dB), and a wide operating voltage range of 2.7V to 5.5V. It is suitable for outdoor audio capture applications such as security cameras and operates within a temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. What's Included Waterproof Microphone, User Guide, 1 to 2 Y-Shape DC Power Splitter Cable, Warning Decal Complimentary Warning Decal The warning decal must be used together with the microphone and posted at the entrance of monitoring (read user guide for detailed guideline). Microphone's Port Diagram Active Microphone: 12V DC Required 20mA RCA Audio Female and Male Two-in-One: Different cameras have different audio port types (some use female/some use male). Sunba MIC-700 Outdoor Microphone has two types made into one unit. No adapters required. Users can apply the corresponding audio port depending on the type used by their camera. Note: 3.5mm Jack is NOT directly supported and must use an adapter. How to Power the Microphone without Running an Additional Power Line? With Non-PoE IP Camera A Y-shape slippter (complimentary in the package) is necessary in this case to divide the DC power from the adapter into two: 1) One power stream goes to the camera; 2) The other power stream goes to the microphone. With Sunba 507 PoE Camera A DC male to male converter (not included in the package) is necessary in this case to convert the female DC port of the camera into male. Then connect the microphone to the DC port of the camera to draw power from the PoE supply used by the camera. With Sunba 405/601 PoE Camera A special DC male port has been made on the camera's end tail to power the microphone. The microphone can directly apply its DC female port to the existing male port without any adapters. In this way, the Mic is actually powered by "borrowing" a few watts supplied to the camera. Review: So far so good. with caveats. - I am not getting the buzzing sound that someone else mentioned above. It does not seem to be over modulated, either. It does not have a sensitivity control dial for the price, but this could prove useful in better protecting the unit vs the weather. So far, I do highly question the rated 540 s/m area that is advertised to be the functioning range. Usually, audio equipment ends up burning out and has to be changed quite frequently in surveillance. I will update if that happens.

**Q: How waterproof is the mic?  Can it be in direct rain at any position or are there mounting considerations?**
A: I mounted mine under a camera i installed on a telephone pole, mounted it into a plate of a bell box and made sure to silicone all around it. Works great, very sensitive

I use this with my SUNBA 601 Speed Dome which is up at the end of the 350' driveway where the driveway meets the road. We can even hear walkers and joggers as they pass by. Also the birds and other wildlife.

### ⭐ Buzzing

Just received the Sunba outdoor microphone. The issue is that there is a buzzing sound originating from the microphone. if I touch or hold the microphone by the plastic housing the buzzing becomes much worse. If it comes in contact with anything solid, it will buzz badly. Hanging it i free air reduces the buzzing to a just audible level. I have tried different 12vdc adapters, different outlets and the buzzing characteristics do not change. The problem is with the microphone. It seems that this unit may be defective and is basically unusable as the buzz is directly related to its proximity / contact with anything solid negating it being mounted to anything solid.
