I have always obtained excellent protection and serviceability from Hoya products, and this filter is no exception. It has performed well in all circumstances and helps provide excellent images while protecting the camera lens from dust, dirt and damage. A very well made glass filter with high grade aluminum framing. I would not hesitate to purchase another filter of this type. Perhaps this just doesn't mate well with my Fuji X100 and the wide conversion lens I have on it. Often using this filter, a very dark zone is created in mid frame. I'm quite surprised at that. I had thought that I might see accentuated deep blue toward one end of frame, but I'm seeing it in the middle of the frame. I'm attempting to use it when aimed approximately 90º to the sun, as I once had when using a CP in my film days. The third of the frame toward the sun from that 90º is lighter and the third of the frame away from that 90º is lighter. That middle third of the frame, directly 90º from the sun is exceptionally dark. Another factor is that I'm shooting above 5000 ft elevation. I actually haven't felt I needed a polarizer through the years I've been shooting digitally, but thought I'd give it a try. I wonder if this high elevation and the deep blue we already get makes the CP's effect just too much. I'm playing with just how far I'm turning the filter to see if I can feather the effect. I might come back at some point in time and rate the filter higher.
