It can switch from cool to off to warm...but if you switch accidentally straight to cool from warm (or vice versa), then it might break, apparently. It says to wait 5 min before switching from hot to cool or cool to hot, but all I did was accidentally switch it from hot to cool...and immediately to off...but that seemed to be enough to break it forever. The next time I plugged it in, it doesn't do anything on hot or cold. It is a $60 box with a built-in switch to accidentally break itself. It is a poor design.
