I am a totally blind man myself, and I have purchased this product knowing the feature set and I can tell you it doesn't talk. This is a microwave that simply connects through a wi-fi connection and uses the MSmartHome app along with alexa to control the unit. The alexa device will do the talking. One has to follow the given instructions to connect the unit to the app and the wifi to get it to work. It doesn't have to talk to be used by us blind people unless you want one with a voice built in and there is only one or two I know of that have that feature. **Q: does the interior Light stay on while cooking AND when you open the door?** A: Yes **Q: does light come on when door is opened?** A: Yes and also when in use. Goes off when not in use. **Q: Where are the vents on this model (i.e., how many inches from the front surface? When you are facing the microwave, the vent is on the right side of the back of the microwave and on the left side of the microwave, one is the air inlet and the other is the air outlet. Actually, this is a Countertop Microwave Oven, we do not recommend you use this model for any built-in application as it was not designed for that type of installation. However that will be OK if you make a proper installation, a minimum clearance of 3.0 inches (7.5cm) is required between the oven and any adjacent walls. Also, one side must be completely unenclosed. Maybe a bit noisy, but still recommended. *by A***R on 9 June 2026* Just got this microwave when our above-range microwave quit. The size is good for our countertop. Before ordering, I marked off the 16" x 20.6" footprint to be sure it was not too big. The inside and turntable are just large enough for a full-size dinner plate, so I wouldn't want to get anything smaller. I never use the fancy programming; I just do timed cooking at high-power almost exclusively. So for that, this microwave is great and easy to use. It seems to heat things a bit faster than the Kenmore Elite microwave that gave out on us. It has a nice appearance in our kitchen. You can turn off the bell/beep, which I appreciate. My only criticism is it is louder than our other microwave -- noise that seems to be from the outer metal casing maybe -- but it's not so bad that I wouldn't buy this one again. All in all, it's a very good microwave and a super value. Minus 1/2 star for noise, rounded up to 5 stars.
