We never had a problem with it trying to fly away. Turning the pockets inside out easily and completely empties them of sand. Turn all the pockets inside-out and give the blanket a few flaps in the breeze and all the sand falls off. Sand doesn’t stick to it. We had one day when a few waves washed over it.
