Or is there a dial or switch?** A: This lathe has a variable speed controller, so the speeds may be changed using the simple rotating knob. To provide speed ranges to suit any situation, especially for the more experienced turner, there is a three step pulley. This arrangement allows the variable speed controller to adjust speeds from 60 to 900 rpm on the low step of the pulley, 110 -1800 rpm on the 2nd step (medium), and a high speed range of 220 -3600 rpm on the the 3rd step. The belt need only be changed if you want to move to a different range of speeds. This is a very simple process. **Q: Is this Ron Swanson approved?** A: Yes, Ron personally blesses each unit as it’s loaded onto a truck. **Q: Will 1221 tail stock accept #2 Morse taper drill chuck?** A: Yes! Just be sure that the tail stock hole and morse taper are clean, otherwise the #2 morse taper can be difficult to remove... **Q: has this lathe have a indexing head** A: William, yes this lathe has an indexing head. I have not yet used the feature but it is done with a spring loaded pin which you lock into anyone of 24 positions.
