This Framed Peacock Butterfly Riker Mount is a meticulously preserved specimen, measuring 4" x 3". ## Description

Scientific Name: Inachis io. Wingspan: 2 inches. Single framed real butterfly in a Riker Mount. Cotton filled hard cardboard frames with a glass top. The butterflies are not glued, they are gently pressed against the glass by the cotton. Riker mounts are not sealed and can be easily opened to extract or reposition the butterflies simply by removing 2-4 pins that are on the sides of the frame. Although the riker mounts aren't sealed, the butterflies will still last for many, many years as long as you keep them out of direct sunlight. All riker mounts have a sawtooth hanger on the back. The specimen is beautiful, however it is extremely small! I also can barely see the the purple shiny tint on the wings. In direct sunlight or with a flash picture the tint is visable. So, that was a little disappointing. The frame is a box, which looks cheap, but I knew what I was getting. I am however grateful that this specimen was made in the United States. So, it is legal and came with some information on care etc.
