## Overview

The SONOFF MINIR4M is a compact, Matter-certified Wi-Fi smart switch relay module designed for seamless integration with Apple Home, Alexa, and Google Home. It supports 2-way SPDT switching with a unique detach relay mode, enabling independent control of external switches and relay states. With a small form factor fitting standard EU/86 boxes, it handles up to 10A/3500W loads and offers versatile compatibility with various switch types. ## Description

MINIR4M is SONOFF's first Matter device, it can recognize and work with other brands of Matter end devices, and integrate into Matter-enabled platforms, such as Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, etc. Controlling all smart devices through one app is no longer a fantasy. Matter-certified devices support local communication in the home network, even if the network is disconnected, MINIR4M still works normally, with faster responsiveness and better reliability. Adding MINIR4M to Matter-compatible Apps is easy. Simply scan the provided Matter QR code with your Matter-Compatible App and MINIR4M is easily configured by following the steps of the App. MINIR4M is equipped with an ESP32 chip, its tiny size fits in various mounting boxes, including 86/EU type, 120 type mounting box. MINIR4M supports external switch control and easily connects to the momentary switch, door exit switch, SPDT switch, latching switch, and even dry contact sensors. MINIR4M has "detach relay" mode, which means the states of external switches and relay are separated, so operating the external switch button won't affect the relay state. Such as, if you open detach relay" mode, when you turn off the light, your smart light won't be offline, and you still can use the App to control smart lights.

Review: HomeKit compatible thanks to Matter. Scanned the QR code and added it right into Home app with no issues at all. I bought two. One is in a box tucked away so far that I thought it would never connect to the wifi. Wrong. It stays connected and is reliably controlling the lights. The other one is in my normal box behind the switch. You WILL need a neutral wire at this device to power it. Just a note on the wiring diagram. The two Neutral connections are common to each other, so where the diagram shows the bulb connected to a N terminal, this is not necessary. Why? Because one side of your bulb is already wired to the neutral in your house and this is the same neutral connected to this device. So only 4 wires are needed. 2 for power (Hot & Neutral), and 2 for the control. For the control, just clip the wire going from your switch to the bulb. The switch side goes to "S2" and the side going to the bulb connects to "L Out". That's it. Another version of the wiring diagram shows the switch circuit between S1 and S2. However, in most normal 3-way situations, this will be difficult since the other wire is in the other box. No matter! The S1 connection is common to "L In". In other words, just wire the output of the switch circuit to S2 because the other side of the switch is already connected to the exact same source that is powering S1 and "L In". The diagram I attached shows how I have mine working in the most simplified way. Even though this connects directly to HomeKit, or whatever, as a new Matter device, also take the time to install their eWeLink app. You will get a ton of nice features and options. Out of the box, the switch simply toggles the state of this relay. However, you have two other modes you can select. One will "follow" the switch circuit, so if the switch is turned ON, this turns on, and if the switch is turned OFF, this turns off. This is annoying because if you use automation to control the relay, you could have to flip the switch twice to get it back in sync. Again, this is not the standard default mode. The third mode will allow you to use a momentary contact to toggle this relay. So instead of changing a switch position and holding it there, a push button will flip this contact to the other state. There are a few other interesting configurations you may never need but nice to know about. You can set whether you want to restore to the last state, ON, or OFF, after a power outage. Finally, you can manually edit the wifi settings, plus a few other things.
