I have only noticed a smell if I get the fake tan on my palms or soles of my feet whereas with other tanners like the bondi sands or b.tan the smell was horrible for 3-4 days and made me feel sticky where this st tropez doesn’t make you feel gross while you’re developing. I have also tried the normal st tropez but couldn’t justify the price which is why the b.tan was my go to but now trying this violet tan I will never go back to any other tanners! Review: Great product, dark and realistic looking. - Veteran male self-tanner here, and this is the best and darkest product I have ever experienced. I had to actually wash it off my face after an hour to reduce the depth of color! I've NEVER done that. The tan goes on dark, and I'm pretty sure it would rub off on sheets and light clothes, so wear a black shirt and shorts the day you apply it. Once you shower, that color transfer should not be a problem. There is only a slight hint of scent after a couple of hours, but nothing to be bothered by. I did not see a greenish cast to the product going on - but rather a deep neutral brown tone to the guide color. It looked like a dark tan instantly. If I were going out and dressing right after application, I would either wear dark clothes, or do a DRY wipedown with an old towel, after about 30 minutes. That should be enough to keep the majority of the color from transferring to your clothes. My experience with these tanners with guide color is that the transfer washes out in the laundry, so not a permanent problem. This product, for me, beats Bondi Sands and Tanology products easily. I would recommend using a mitt when applying it as it is very dark. Almost black in color. It does make your skin look dirty after you apply it. I used it at night and rinsed off in the morning. The color looked really good. It does have that self tanning smell but not as bad as some. I would only recommend using this one if you already have some type of base tan. If you are ghostly white this color might be too dark for you. Do not wear any light colored clothing because IT WILL rub off. I would give this an 8 1/2 on a scale from 1-10.
