I got this for my wife because she broke her mirror, and it would not stay upright so i ordered this one for her to replace it. When I got the mirror, I thought that this would solve her problem of not being able to use her mirror. I was caught off guard by the size of the base on this item. It is really narrow and does not allow for the mirror to stand on its own on a counter or dresser for instance. It has to be secured with screws or some other device so that it will not move. Once I found that out, I secured it to the dresser where she gets ready for work every day and have not had a problem at all. This item is wonderful except for that. The mirror is clear, and you can see perfectly. When you flip it to 5X it works just like it is supposed to.
