Regarding the specifications of what is needed to maintain the 58,000 BTU output, the referenced professionals will be able to point you in the right direction (typically the connector used is a 3/8 inch female connection to 1/4 inch male connection for 10-12 ft. hoses). **Q: Is the 21" measurement from the outer tip of the bowl (widest point)?** A: I just went out and measured it. It is 21" at the widest point which is at the top of the lip of the bowl. The bottom ring at the feet measures 20.75". I purchased this size because it would fit in the storage compartment of my RV without having to turn it sideways to get it through the compartment door. The BTU output is the same for all the different models 24",21" or 19". I own two of these (a 24" and a 21") and would highly recommend them, they have never let me down and are far easier than dealing with fire wood. **Q: Has anyone had their fire pit not work at all? I opened the tank valve very slowly to avoid tripping the safety, but no gas is coming out. No smell.** A: I have not had an issue with that. Try turning the valve on the pit off, then reconnect to the tank and open the tank slowly, and lastly turn the valve on the pit on. Maybe that will stop the tank safety from tripping? **Q: How hot does it get between the pit and the ground? Do the feet and the ring at the bottom get hot, if so, would it melt the patio deck membrane?** A: Agree with previous answer. I would not put on a table top, composite deck, any sort of plastic or actually anything other than cement. I put mine on outdoor patio made of brick pavers. You may try getting large paver stones (12” x 12”) and setting on that. Still couldn’t guarantee heat would not penetrate through the pavers to the surface underneath.
