I find it easier to part my hair into two sections, and oil each separately. I do not oil the roots of my hair, or my scalp- I see that it tends to promote dandruff. Focus on the length of your hair, and the tips. You can do these oil touch-ups when your hair is asking- just don’t overdo it. I got excited with oil… and it wasn’t nice. -Brush? : I would only brush or comb your hair BEFORE washing- I would not recommend while your hair is damp, because your hair is far more likely to be damaged and/or fall out. I rarely brush my hair since it is usually braided, which keeps it protected. I also do not use a scalp brush- some people like them, but remember that hair follicles ( the “hole” in which each individual hair is planted) cannot be repaired. When they are damaged, they’re damaged forever. I find that clipped, gentle fingertips are enough to massage the scalp during shampooing. That is pretty much it.
