I have long, straight, thin, baby fine hair and the brush goes through the hair well. However, the brush is heavy, the handle not ergonomic, and it is unbalanced in the hand. When I approach my head, especially near my face, I strike near my temple and it hurts. No matter how careful I am in trying to approach my head slowly, the brush lands with uncomfortable force. The head is too heavy. The handle is too wide for my adult hand and not long enough. I have used the brush for over a week now so it isn't a matter of getting accustomed to it. The brush collects more hair than my previous brush, and it is hard to clean out. There is a standard nibbed plastic bristle underneath which is a shorter, regular straight bristle. Sorry, I don't know how to describe this double bristled aspect. I purchased two, one as a gift for young friends. I let the 7 year old use my brush, and it was flailing around in her hand as she approached her head. The lack of balance was very evident. I don't imagine the 4 year old will be able to handle this at all. This was not a good purchase. Wet or dry, that brush is the gentlest and has avoided many tears. If I used an adult brush she would run away. These are great- her hair gets brushed and no one cries. We own two so we have one upstairs and on the main floor.
