Batteries go on top of the dispenser not on the bottom. Use many, many times everyday !! Great item, Great buy !!! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Read Instructions *by F***S on Reviewed in the United States on July 24, 2016* Took me while to learn to use the foam soap function. I made the mistake of using regular dish soap. The automatic mechanism would not dispense soap because it was too dense. I used some clean water and activated the sensor to dispense soap and it worked. It cleaned out the dispenser and I diluted the soap with some water. The soap is still thick enough to use for dish washing but not so thick it clogs the mechanism. I would suggest before use with soap to test with water first. And if you only have dish soap,use only 20% soap and 50% water. Do not fill the top, leave the remaining 30% of space to be filled with air.
