Through the stories of these amazing women who were determined to heal their children, the reader learns about the many therapies that are successfully being used to treat autism. Yes, everyone's journey is different, some have children who are indistinguishable from their peers while others have seen slight but still important gains. The reader learns about the many therapies that have been making a difference in the lives of children with autism, but most of all they are offered a ray of hope and an outstretched hand from another parent who has fought the same battles. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ So they're not "born with it" after all... *by S***E on Reviewed in the United States on March 28, 2017* Very moving accounts of special needs children who were ignored by doctors, but not by their mothers, who moved Heaven and Earth to find both causes and cures. Eye-opening in its proof that children with autism are not "born with it," but, because of genetic susceptibilities, are forced into autism by environmental factors.The only thing I didn't like about this book is the use of cutesy aliases for the mothers. I can understand that they would not want to use their real names, especially as they reveal that they basically bucked both the medical system and the pharmaceutical industry to tell their children's stories. But they should have chosen plain old normal, real-name aliases, like Jane Smith or whatever. This books is a reflection of that in an age when we are told to abandon those instincts and hand over the health and well being of our children to outsiders. We have to take back our power to heal, we have it.
