"Adult thrips are tiny narrow bodied insects that vary in colour from yellow to brown / black. They feed by sucking sap. Thrips damage s leaves, flowers and fruit by piercing and sucking out sap. After feeding the develops silvery-white mottled residue on the leaves. Thrip damage is more likely to be seen, and cause more damage on, s grown in greenhouses or conservatories and can be responsible for the spread of viruses. There are many different species including the insect commonly known in the U.K as the 'Thunderbug', the more damaging species for s are the Western Flower thrip and the Onion thrip. Thrips can be controlled using Yellow or Blue Sticky Traps and two beneficial insects; Amblyseius cucumeris and Orius laevigatus. Just Thrip Killer contains the predatory mite; Amblyseius cucumeris. This tiny mite feeds on the thrip larvae or young. It is supplied as a live product in a slow release bag or shaker bottle. The slow release bags produce a high number of mites over 6-8 weeks and can be hung on s. This is recommended for preventative or low infestation s. The shaker bottle is for spot s of thrips and can be shaken over infected leaves where thrip larvae are present. Requires a minimum temperature of 15C."
