The grid on the other side of the whiteboard makes it more flexible so you can use it for a variety of different purposes. The pen works well like any other pen, with the extra benefit of a magnet to stick to the whiteboard. One thing I do not like is the corners of the whiteboard occasionally fall off, but it can be placed right back on.
