Conditioned the leather very well. **Q: Are these good for walking in light snow and slush >** A: They are. I just wore these boots today(I live in NJ) through all the slush and snow. They are pretty waterproof from snow and slush but I wouldn't step directly in 3+ inch water puddles. They hold up pretty well. **Q: Does the sole stay connected to the shoe through normal wear?** A: I'm not sure what you're asking here. Like, are you expecting the shoe to separate into two pieces or is that somehow a common problem you've encountered with footwear under "normal wear"? Regardless, to answer your question - each shoe does a fantastic job of remaining a whole shoe. **Q: If im normally a size 11 do u think ill be fine with a 10.5?** A: Yes, I found that my normal size of 8.5 were to roomy in the toe so when I ordered my second pair I ordered them a half size smaller. I’ve taken these to Israel, India, around various trails and they can handle the rough and tumble. The laces are a bit too long and you can trip over them but other than that the best boots I ever bought ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars The quality of the leather looks better and even more durable in person *by D***C on Reviewed in the United States on July 12, 2015* One of the more stylish traditionally constructed boots from Timberland that I've encountered - certainly more so than the more traditional work-boot style Timberland is known for. I have no problems dressing this one up for the urban jungle, or dressing down for outdoor field duty (like as a gentlemen's hunting boot). The quality of the leather looks better and even more durable in person. The other usual features are present like a fully stitched, glued, and welted sole (waterproof), fully gusseted tongue to keep water/snow/ice/dirt/mud out of the boot, high quality eyelets and some of the toughest lacing hooks I've seen on a boot of this style. The outsole is a stickier, but harder, more durable rubber than the usual softer "green rubber" seen so much on Tims now. I expect it will handle ice and snow particularly well. It' seems more like a cross between the soft rubber Timberland usually uses and a tra ditional Vibram material. If you're accustomed to Timberland's sizing, just be careful with this style. Unlike most of the traditional Timberland boots which almost always seem sized generous - about 1/2 size large (for thick socks?) - this one seems to be very true to size. I'm glad I tried on a couple of differrent pairs with different socks in a store before ordering. The one exception is another pair of Timberland boots that are size 11 and too big. With that experience, I decided not to believe the reviews that said the shoes fit as others and purchased these in size 11. They fit perfectly. My experience has been that Timberland boots run bigger than they say.(I wear a custom footbed, so can't speak to the arch support.)They fit so well that they are my daily wear shoe. I have a service dog and live in the NW, which means even in the nice weather, I still traipse through neighbors' yards to pick up poo. When it rains, as it does here, it's even worse. I need a waterproof shoe. I have different boots for the mudd hikes, but have worn these in a few serious storms already. In one, the path from bus to home required walking through ankle deep water. That's not normal use, but they kept my feet dry and suffered no damage.The shape of the boot means most of us have to undo at least a couple rows of shoelace to get in and out. My previous boots had eyelets all the way to the top which was a pain to undo and redo, especially if they have to get changed more than once a day. I eventually had the top three eyelets replaced with hooks, so I'm really happy these boots come like that. I wish it was three eyes deep, but the two they give us work for me and I have an ankle shape that makes boots especially hard. These should be easy for everyone.Did I tell you how comfortable these are? They have the protection and little bit of support I'm looking for in a lightweight boot without being clodhoppers. I don't feel like I'm wearing boots when I'm in them. This time of year, I walk up to six miles a day and my feet, knees, and back feel great during and after.I'd wear these boots for chopping firewood, but they probably wouldn't be my first choice for pulling logs out of a muddy creek bed.
