A mattress no more than 10 inches can be placed in the top bunk. If you have mobility issues, you will have trouble getting in the top bunk as the ladder is straight up and down. The only thing I didn’t like was that the warning stickers on the bed could have been a little more thoughtfully placed, but that could just be me being extra petty.
