Whether you're dealing with large media files or critical system images, this device delivers high-speed performance in a compact, durable form. This all-in-one solution works as a hard drive enclosure, HDD enclosure, and external hard drive case, offering support for both 2.5" and 3.5" SATA SSDs and HDDs. Its intuitive design ensures a secure fit and reliable connection every time — no screws, no tools, no hassle. The EC-DFLT features a plug-and-play hard drive reader interface with full SATA to USB adapter capability, giving you instant access to drives via a single USB 3.0 port. Backwards compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1, it ensures versatility across systems. Whether you're using it as a 3.5 hard drive enclosure or as a routine external hard drive enclosure, performance is consistent and reliable. Enjoy blazing-fast transfer speeds and effortless drive swaps — ideal for IT professionals, media editors, or anyone in need of a hard drive dock that works flawlessly. Compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux systems, it’s perfect for expanding storage, cloning drives, or recovering data. Choose Sabrent for durable quality, wide compatibility, and powerful performance in every task — from backup to restoration ## Features - Enjoy fast USB 3.0 speed, up to 5Gbps, with UASP support. This SATA to USB adapter transfers HD video, large backups, and cloned drives in seconds, and it's reverse-compatible with USB 2.0/1.1 so it works with any computer, old or new. - Fits both 2.5" and 3.5" SATA drives via USB-A. Insert any 2.5" or 3.5" SATA hard drive or SSD — no screws, no software, no drivers needed. This hard drive enclosure connects to your computer's USB-A port and works right out of the box on Windows and Mac. - SATA only, not compatible with IDE drives. This hdd enclosure reads and writes standard 2.5" & 3.5" SATA I/II/III hard drives and SSDs. Check your drive's connector before ordering — older IDE (PATA) drives will not fit or function in this dock. - Because this hard drive reader runs on its own 12V/2A power adapter instead of drawing power from your USB port, even older, high-draw 3.5-inch hard drives spin up reliably — something many bus-powered enclosures can't manage. Your computer or laptop's power supply never enters the equation. - A trusted, US-based brand with bonus software included. Sabrent has sold over a million docking stations worldwide, backed by a warranty that extends to 2 years with free product registration within 90 days of purchase. You'll also get a free Acronis True Image download for easy cloning and backups, plus the USB cable, power adapter, and manual — all included in the box. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | Asin | B00LS5NFQ2 | | Best Sellers Rank | 445 in Computers & Accessories (See Top 100 in Computers & Accessories) 1 in Hard Drive Docking Stations | | Box Contents | Power Supply, Sabrent EC-DFLT Lay-Flat Docking, USB 3.0 cable, User Manual | | Brand Name | SABRENT | | Colour | Black | | Compatible Devices | Linux, Mac, Windows | | Country Of Origin | China | | Customer Reviews | 4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars (37,042) 4.4 out of 5 stars | | Data Transfer Rate | 5 Gigabits Per Second | | Enclosure Material | Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00819921011572 | | Hardware Interface | USB 3.0 Type A | | Hardware Platform | Universal | | Item Dimensions L X W X H | 18L x 12.2W x 4.1H centimetres | | Item Highlight | Hard Drive Enclosure for Data Backup, Recovery & Drive Cloning, Compatible with 2.5" & 3.5", HDD & SSD, Tool Free HDD Caddy | | Item Type Name | Docking Station | | Item Weight | 7.5 Ounces | | Manufacturer | SABRENT | | Manufacturer Part Number | EC-DFLT | | Memory Storage Capacity | 20 TB | | Model Number | EC-DFLT | | Network Connectivity Technology | SATA, USB | | Number Of Items | 1 | | Number Of Packs | 1 | | Product Warranty | 12 Years Upon Registration | | Supported Devices Quantity | 1 | | The Standard Size Of The Hard Drive Or The Bay The Hard Drive Is Compatible With In Inches | 3.5 Inches | | Unit Count | 1.0 count | | Upc | 780746852766 819921011572 737989665660 650135421227 | ## Product Details - **Brand:** SABRENT - **Colour:** Black - **Hardware interface:** USB 3.0 Type A - **Hardware platform:** Universal - **Product dimensions:** 18L x 12.2W x 4.1H centimetres ## Images ![SABRENT Hard Drive Docking Station, SATA to USB 3.0 SSD Enclosure (EC-DFLT) - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81Y8qIYM2eL.jpg) ![SABRENT Hard Drive Docking Station, SATA to USB 3.0 SSD Enclosure (EC-DFLT) - Image 2](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/712izt2nWBL.jpg) ![SABRENT Hard Drive Docking Station, SATA to USB 3.0 SSD Enclosure (EC-DFLT) - Image 3](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71+V1Np44AL.jpg) ![SABRENT Hard Drive Docking Station, SATA to USB 3.0 SSD Enclosure (EC-DFLT) - Image 4](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81fRLf7tI1L.jpg) ![SABRENT Hard Drive Docking Station, SATA to USB 3.0 SSD Enclosure (EC-DFLT) - Image 5](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71L-onbMtUL.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Style Name** options. ## Questions & Answers **Q: Will this be able to read data already stored on the hdd? or will it just ask to re-format the hdd when i connect?** A: Yes you will be able to read the data already stored on the drive, unless it is corrupted in some way. **Q: I have inserted a new 3tb seagate sata drive and connected the power. when i connect usb the blue light flashes, but doesn't show on pc.** A: I had exactly this with a WD Purple 3 Tb drive. You have to go to Sabrent's website and download a Firmware update. Then carefully follow the instructions for the exe file. Once I did that and rebooted I could see the drive, and then partitioned it into separate 1Tb and 2Tb sectors. Everything seems to work as it should. **Q: Hi can I put an 8tb 3.5 hard drive in this hard station and use it with my Xbox one s** A: Yes, you can. It supports hard drives up to 10 TB per slot. **Q: Does this have Sleepmode** A: Not that I'm aware of. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent for Using Old PC Drives with a Mini PC *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 24 October 2026* Really handy piece of kit! I bought this to connect my old PC hard drives to my mini PC, and it does the job perfectly. Easy to set up, tool-free design makes swapping drives simple, and the USB 3.0 connection is great for accessing and transferring files. Ideal for backing up old data and recovering files without having to install the drives inside another computer. Great value and exactly what I needed. Highly recommended! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Did the job. *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 18 October 2026* If you have an old hard drive you need to access this is perfect. Probably a one off buy, in my case 2, but saves you taking it to a specialist to recover old data. You’ve got to change security in the drive to allow access to “child” subfolders. Fortunately my old drive wasn’t encrypted so didn’t have to worry about passwords. Obviously you have to take everything apart to access the hard drive. If you want to put it back together again take photos at each stage. I just wanted the hard drive. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Spare drives *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 9 July 2025* No issues with delivery as arrived in good condition and on time. On opening the box the item looked good, but the lid felt plastic when using and this I felt should of been metal or hard plastic. The item worked well when drives were inserted and used, with the speed being good, however the smaller drives were a bit tricky to release from holder but this could be down to my large fingers.I would still recommend this drives as made life easier swopping my drives except took a bit longer with small ones. Other than that this is an excellent product and well worth getting if you have extra drives you need files from but don't need sitting in your computer and as you do not need to use screws, just open lid insert drive into it then plug into a Usb port on you computer which makes it easy to setup, install and use.
