I am of Asian decent and have medium dark skin with thick black hair. I've had laser hair removal from salons before and after paying for 8 sessions and then several top ups, I was still left with unwanted hair. I used the Homedics on all my unwanted body hair (there's alot!) and it has significantly reduced my hair growth. I used it as instructed, starting off with weekly sessions and then reducing it as time went on because I didn't need to use it as often. I can't say the hair removal is permanent, but I have noticed that even the fine hairs are totally gone and I don't need to touch anything for over 4-5 weeks (this is a massively long time, as when I was getting my legs waxed I would get hair growth within 5 days)!
