My physical therapist used it on me for an elbow injury. The cryocup helps to "hold" the ice as you use it. Remove the base (twist off). Use the ice in a circular motion over and around the area needing treatment. Use only for about 7 or 10 minutes. Stop if your skin starts to turn white as this could be frostbite. In my reading I understand that the combination of cold and the massage increases the circulation and allows the penetration of the cold in a much shorter time. For me, ice massage (and the Cryocup in particular) has always helped to shorten the duration and severity of my flareups. After an initial overnight freeze, to use it all you have to do is park a folded towel in your lap under your arm, Pop the frozen ice massager out of it's mold cup, and massage the pain away for 10-12 mins, several times a day ... and it's easy to top off and refreeze between uses with a little cold water. This is a simple tool that works well and offers a lot of bang for the buck. Recommended. p.s.
