Review: Fantastic product - Having inadvertently washed my Superdry and taking out the waterproof, I got drenched every time it rained, soaking me right through. I turned to this product which was so easy to use. Needless to say, my Superdry is now waterproof again.
Review: Ok stuff - The cleaning part of the kit worked well and cleaned my old coat up a treat, but the waterproofing part hasn’t worked as well hence four stars. The coat still lets in water at the stress points like the shoulders and crook of the arms. That said it has made a difference and maybe with a spray on nikwax it might be totally waterproof. UPDATE I bought some more to do my partners coat and it worked a treat. I think the age and condition of the garment is what made the difference. My partners coat was newer than my old coat so maybe older garments need a second cycle of waterproofing.

A: No. Nikwax products have been tested by leading manufacturers and no harm or damage has ever been caused to washing machines or their components. Nikwax is safe for septic tanks and other non-mains drainage systems.

**Q: How often do I need to treat a garment or item of gear with a Nikwax proofing product?**
A: Items that are properly treated (cleaned and proofed with Nikwax) will withstand 4 to 6 washes. For an average use of outdoor clothing we recommend that you wash and re-proof your gear at least once a year.

**Q: What are the advantages to using Nikwax TX.Direct wash-in instead of TX.Direct spray-on?**
A: Using Wash-in means the clothing will be evenly coated and the proofer will reach hard to get to places. Using Spray-on can be useful as you can target specific areas of the jacket that need waterproofing anytime, anywhere.

**Q: Do Nikwax treatments change the appearance of footwear?**

I was sceptical about these but I had purchased a coat for walking from a local charity shop and felt it needed a wash before I wore it, but noted that it would lose it's water proof quality if washed in normal detergent, I washed as per instructions and the coat came out smelling a lot fresher, and true to the claim as soon as I went out in the rain the water just rolled into beads and straight off the coat...Job done, I am now going to buy again but a bigger pack this time as my hubby's coat needs a refresh but again it needs to stay waterproof
