I would hike the rain pants up and lower the rain boots to give my legs a chance to breathe. They fit over my chunky ankle length boots which was good. The snap on the back strap kept coming off so I just took that strap off. Not sure what it is even for. You want a tight fit over your shoe, so work a little to get it in there if it seems too small at first. With the appropriate pants to go over the ankles of the covers, I have not noticed any moisture making it through to my mostly mesh Allbirds shoes. If you know of Allbirds, you know how risky it is to wear them in any amount of rain. I haven't ridden in very torrential rain, but I have ridden in an above average storm and they did very well. They fit a little loose for my taste, and there isn't a great way to tighten them in the way they are made now. Also, if you're not careful, the hem that attaches the securing button snaps to the actual calf portion of the covers aren't very durable will come apart.
