Review: Nice posts that can be used together to make longer handrails - I needed a longer handrail for our front steps and a shorter one for the back steps. The posts in this kit lend themselves well to attaching to longer wooden handrails you can get from the hardware store and look nice. I had trouble with the masonry bit and concrete anchors that came in the first kit we bought, but the second kit had a nicer masonry drill bit and stouter anchors and went much better. I think I was using the wrong sized bit for the first install because the included bit didn’t work with my drill, and the holes were very slightly undersized. Also it’s super tough to get four holes drilled in exactly the right spot in concrete. But if you can manage that, these posts feel sturdy once they’re in and are great value for money. I also noticed the price had dropped after my first purchase and the seller (not desertcart) refunded the difference, customer service was quick and very good.

**Q: Can the vertical post be shortened?  How short?**
A: It is possible if you have good metalworking skills.  It is not designed to be shortened.

**Q: Can this be installed on a flat surface, not stairs?**
A: My dad installed these for their front porch but I think you have the ability to pick the angle if you want one.

**Q: How steep a staircase can I use this on? How do I know if my stairs are less than 50 degrees?**
A: They are adjustable, and should work.  Just level both verticals supports, the rest falls into place.  Very easy installation.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Solid Metal, do not depend on instructions

Heavy, good quality metal. Well painted. Can take a lot of weight (if installed properly). The screws are basic silver metal, they really should have been painted white as well. I installed mine in the ground, not on cement or stone stair - still it is very sturdy. Just make sure you put the 18" of the bottom rail into solid soil. Adding a bit of cement in there may be needed depending on your soil conditions. You also may need an auger to dig such a deep hole. I used one that connects to a basic home drill. The instructions are overly simple, but they still got them wrong, the image they have has the angle of the handrail going in the wrong direction from the stair. It should slope down the stair, not up.
