Butane or propane or both** A: Both, it is supplied with a propane regulator but you can change it to Butane. **Q: Does the metal go rusty** A: So far... no, the metal hasn't gone rusty. But I did buy the rainproof cover with it, so that helps keep the elements off. This is a great little BBQ! **Q: Three people said this could be used with lava rock. I just took delivery and there is no lava rock and no tray for lava rock. How come?** A: I got mine about 3 years ago. It came with lava rock which sits on a wire grill over the burners. Unless they have changed it? If it is a no lava rock BBQ it will have a number of metal flat plates with a bend on them over the burners to deflect the flames and only allow heat to get to the food you are cooking. **Q: Hi, how easy to clean the grill? Assembly is definitely a bit tricky as the images are in black and white and not very clear due to this. Was concerned that the gas pipe had a big hole in it for the gas burner, and emailed company who advised that it was correct for combustion. I couldn't find the answer anywhere if it was safe! Cooked really well. Unfortunately not able to get it really clean after just one use, tried all sorts to clean it. Handy shelf which you can have up or fold down (allows you to buy a smaller cover for it.
