Just select "external mic" under settings. The cord extension is great, too, if you're moving around and using this with a camcorder. Great price as well. My wife is a teacher working from home because of the coronavirus, so we use it with several different types of equipment, for teaching cooking (she teaches home ec) while I act as cameraman, or teleconferencing with other faculty and staff on her MacBook.
