### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ It stands the test of time.

A great disc set for a great anime! For some reason these do not play on my many years old USB Blu-ray Reader/Writer (which also supports DVD) but I am able to happily watch these discs on a classic VHS/DVD player combo. Computer disc readers are sometimes picky when trying to handle authored DVDs manufactured much newer than it's own firmware though, in my experience.Anyway, I watched Tamers when I was in my early-mid teens, it had quite an impact on me and I took it greatly to heart. Two decades later I still look back on it very fondly, and I'm pleased I haven't recollected Tamers with rose tinted specs.I did forgot how 'heavy' this anime can get, there are some scenes which unfold in the digital world which, in my opinion, may warrant parental guidance (though maybe I'm just a softy). They lean into loss, hatred, guilt, and terror. They aren't light themes, and they aren't exactly glossed over. I almost get a light-weight Evangelion vibe, in that the children (Tamers) have their own various familial or psychological challenges which follow them throughout, or occasionally arise as new ones to overcome. There is a sense of realism and continuity to their emotional states, and their states of mind, aspects which the writers of the show do not just introduce and then promptly throw away again with the same episode (aka, poor writing) - leaving them magically healed back to a blank slate again. Instead, the characters inhabit a persistent, 'believable' world.Further to the above, I love the fact it is a continuous string of connecting episodes, which is unlike shows such as Pokémon, which has a great many filler episodes under a much larger story canopy (e.g. Ash aims to become a Jhoto league winner, takes dozens of fluff episodes to get to the league itself, or whatever). To be honest, I'm as far as episode 36ish and wish there was a bit of filler to actually enjoy the characters being themselves a bit, because there's surprising substance to relate to them as characters and it sucks they are just permanently stuck fighting and struggling all the time. The carefree days of the early episodes soon feel far away, as the Tamers are forced to grow and rise to the collosal challenges.Anyway, I love this Anime. I think it stands the test of time, and I would unironically recommend it.
