I have a thin protective shell type case on my ipad mini and it fits in this sleeve perfectly, being just a little tight. This would not work well for a larger protective shell type case... like an otterbox. But for a ipad mini without a case or if the case is pretty thin and not bulky, this will work fine. My ipad when inside the hardshell case has an exterior dimension of 8.125" by 5.60" exactly and is just over 1/2" thick and it fits rather tightly, but firmly and it's not TOO tight. I think the sleeve will probably stretch a little over time anyway. I wouldn't want it any looser or any tighter. It's perfect. The case I use is very minimal and only adds to the bulk of the ipad minimally. it's a Besdata Defender which I bought here on Amazon. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ InCase is my favorite Apple case brand *by J***L on Reviewed in the United States on October 3, 2014* Love the entire InCase line. I have owned products by InCase for all of my Apple devices and I can confidently say that InCase products do exactly what they are supposed to do, protect expensive electronics and look sleek doing it.I bought this to protect my iPad mini. It fits perfectly to the mini, and with the padding, I really feel safe putting it in my bag, and setting it on my dresser or in my bed. To be fair, this isn't case that I would honestly feel comfortable dropping my iPad in, especially on a hard surface. It is not a hard case, and does not form completely around the iPad. It really is more of a preventive carrying sleeve.
