My neighbors have way more limescale in their flats than we do and it's all down to the Eddy. Highly recommended. Original review: Supposedly it can take a while (even months) to have an effect as pipes can have a lot of scale build up. Perhaps because our flat is new, we IMMEDIATELY saw a SIGNIFICANT effect. It's most obvious on the shower screen. My first shower after installing the Eddy, the screen was actually CLEANER after the shower! The water from my Eddy shower was washing away the scale from previous showers! After scrubbing the screens properly, the new water splatter was virtually invisible (compared to before). The kitchen basin stays cleaner, too. These are just the differences we can see. I expect less scale will be good for our appliances in the long term. I have "closed" hot water system, i.e. no water tank in loft. The Eddy Electronic Water Descaler has far exceeded my expectations. I purchased it really to eliminate it as an option to a full water softening product at many times the cost. However, the performance has proved more than adequate at reducing/eliminating limescale in my shower unit. **Q: If I install this product near to my stopcock do I have to clear a deposit from inside my water pipe at this point at some time in the future?** A: I'm pretty sure that you don't - at least I hope not! Ours is installed by the stopcock and I think that the scale is supposed to be broken down in the pipe and then just runs through. We have particularly hard water and I am not convinced that this is making much of a difference. We are going to have to invest in something a lot more heavy duty. **Q: my stopcock is behind the washing machines. Consequently it's very very hard water. The main problem we have is that the water leaves heavy limescale everywhere and this includes on your skin and hair. Heating the water makes no difference. Applying chemicals would cost a fortune regularly and be tedious. Ironically the water itself tastes fine, and when we go to soft water areas we have stomach problems when drinking the soft water. So, we decided to give this a go. They offer a years refund if you don't find it helps. On that basis we tried it. Here is what we have personally experienced... 1) The water feels smoother in your hands and on your skin. 2) The water flows more freely and smoothly compared to before. 3) Washed hair no longer feels scaly. 4) Washed skin feels smoother. 5) Hardly any limescale build on appliances and sinks. 6) Taste - the water tastes smoother and does not give any stomach aches as when we tried softened water.
