Ordered the medium for his 32" waist and it fitted him perfectly. Materials used are of a good quality and the design is simple yet practical. We just tried it out going through the security scanners at the airport and as it is plastic he didn't have to remove it and it didn't set the alarm off which made him a happy bunny. Perhaps a tad on the expensive side but a good buy if you go through secure areas often. The only real negative again as a result of a positive is due to the material being so thick it causes the buckle to stick out a little, as a result this would not be suitable to wear under a duty belt. I ordered mine based on my inch size. S 28"-30", M 32"-34", L 36"-38", XL 40"-42", XXL 44"-46", 3XL 48"-50", 4XL 52"-54. If you don't know inch then the conversion to metric is easy. **Q: What size would be best for a 31" waist ? Small or Medium ?** A: I'm a 34" to 36" and went for a large which is just the right size. So I would say a Medium you can cut the belt down but can't add on. **Q: Can anyone tell me what size would fit a 32” waist please?** A: A medium. Like many other customers I bought this belt for work and needed something that wouldn't keep setting off metal detectors. In that respect it fulfills that requirement. A relatively sturdy belt that doesn't crease or fold easily, unlike some thinner products that simply fold over. A good locking friction system that doesn't move once secured and contrary to one review it's a doddle to fasten and unfasten. Simply thread the tapered end through the plastic buckle. It does however sit slightly proud. An important observation is the medium size is at the edge of 34". None of us like to admit our waistlines increase with age but in hindsight I should have gone for the next size up. But me- a size 36" ?
