The only thing it takes a little bit of time to dry. I painted an old rusty boat trailer. I gave it two coats and it looks amazing. Review: This is a really good paint, but it does have it's downfalls. We've used it on our houseboat (1986 Stephens Steel Hull) to paint the steel railings and deck/catwalks, and we used it to paint our fishing boat trailer. It's decently thick. It goes on really well and hides the brush/roller strokes as you put it on. It doesn't fade in the sun. We originally painted the deck and catwalks in the gray color and the railings in white and blue. The boat trailer is red. We quickly learned the white doesn't clean well at all (even after pressure washing the dirt/pollen still seems to be there) so we decided to paint them gray . Apparently, there are 2 different grays (or they changed their formula). We took the "new" gray paint and used it to touch up the original gray on the deck and catwalks and it doesn't match. The gray we originally used seems to be a matte gray and it let a lot of rust through on the deck/catwalks (we did use the primer before we painted). The "new" gray is super glossy compared to the original gray we purchased (even though the cans are exactly the same). The blue we put on the railings is also super glossy. The blue seemed to hold up the best out of the gray (original one) and the white. The white also looked matte and not as glossy as the blue. The new, glossy gray has only been on for about 4 months but seems to be holding up well so far. I feel like the durability is somehow tied to whether it's the glossy or matte version, but I have no actual proof of that other than my observation of how the colors held up over a 2 year period. The red is super glossy too and seems to be holding up well (it's only been on the trailer for 2 months though). Water just beads up on it when it rains or we clean it. Overall we are happy with the performance. Downsides....it chips off easily if dinged (which does make me a little worried about the boat trailer). I accidently hit the railing with the arm of our bar height patio chair and took a chunk out of the paint that was on the railing. Forget cleaning it out of a paint brush. Just throw the brush away. We tried using brush cleaner, acetone and mineral spirits on the brushes. We even used a paint brush comb to no avail. It stains the brush horribly and just won't come out of the brush. It will also stain the heck out of your hands as you're trying to clean the brush. My husband had blue fingers for a couple of days. We'll continue to use this paint. For the tub / shower surround? What were the results? Thank you.** A: Yes! If you get the tub repair/ paint kit you're spending $30-$60 or more, and this does a better job at $15. Seriously can't beat it. **Q: Can this paint be sprayed in an hvlp gun?** A: I have sprayed gallons of this using a Harbor Freight gun. Using 2 parts paint, 1 part acetone, and 6% paint volume of enamel hardener it will be dry in two hours and look beautiful! **Q: do you have to use primer first on new marine plywood?** A: I would definitely use a good primer like Total Boat before coating with Topside. Also, I make sure that all voids in the edges of the plywood are filled, if necessary.
