## Description

desertcart.com: Perixx PERIBOARD-512B Wired Ergonomic Keyboard - Split Keyboard, Wrist Rest, Natural Typing - Wired USB Connectivity - US English - Black : Electronics

Review: Good quality - Comfortable positioning of the keys. It has reduced stress on my wrists. Sturdy build. Easy plug and play. Keys are a little loud.
Review: Best value of its class - Been using wave, split keyboard style keyboards for maybe decades. Forget when I got my first Microslop Natural Keyboard Elite but still have three PS2 ones that are working fine. The key strokes are pretty long on those so was looking for maybe a mechanical switch board and would have spent up to $200.00 to get one that was a split design and a waive, like this one. But guess what? Couldn't find one at any price. Was going to go with the new Microslop wired ones, not a fan of baby sitting dongles and batteries, for roughly twice the price of this one, but saw some scary reviews. You don't know if they are for real or just someone with a personal problem. Then saw some good reviews for this one and for the price, was thinking it has to beat the stock Dell sub $20.00, maybe sub $10.00 even, keyboard that was given to me by my work. So actually ordered 3 of these thinking what the heck, I can send them back if they blow, and then I can keep them and happy day for me if they are OK or better. Happy Day! They are better! One review stated that they feel cheap. They weigh just about exactly the same as my MS boards are almost exactly the same size and shape. Just so I could say I did it, I torqued them from the ends. My natural 190 lb frame could likely snap it but they are just about as solid as the my old MS boards: talking about the range of a few pounds of pressure difference nothing major. That is, if all you want to to is type on them, thinking that they are plenty solid enough to last for years. When I checked all three boards, one had a slight separation between the top part and the bottom on the underside of board where you can't see it while using it on the left hand side, [the top and bottom are screwed together much like a laptop computer is] but again, very minor, maybe .005 - .010 of an inch for about 3 inches. Think maybe you could work a match book cover into it if you spent the time and tried hard. This turned out to be a result of the twist I gave them as the top and bottom parts are "keyed" and the male tab came out of its slot. A small push and it was back in place. The other two were perfect and don't see how that is going to make any difference anyway. They are well built and the key action is shorter than the old boards. It uses almost exactly the same layout as the old boards with the arrow keys being closer to the delete buttons. All this works for me. Can type faster, but for me that's maybe 80 - 90 wpm in bursts. If you want the worlds fastest keyboard, them maybe go with a mechanical switch type. For me, this is a very satisfying keyboard. The buttons on the top also work with Linux a bit so another plus if you too use multiple operating systems with the same keyboards. Ordered two more. These are great and for the price I was willing to pay for one mechanical switch board, I have 5 of these. I have been using one of these daily at work 8 hours a day for months now and no issues.

## Features

- Old-School Curved Row Design: Stepped, curved key rows promote a natural typing posture and reduce fatigue during long sessions. Made from high-quality ABS with membrane switches and 4.2 mm key travel.
- Ergonomic Curved Keycaps: Curved keycaps with flatter tops and back edges fit fingertip contours for improved comfort and control. Available in black, beige, and white color options.
- Natural Learning Curve: Ergonomic shape may require a short adjustment period. Most users adapt within 1–2 weeks and experience improved comfort and reduced wrist pressure with continued use.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How does this compare to the microsoft ergonomic 4000 keyboard? i’ve been using the ms4000 for years on my imacs, but ms has not updated the driver.**
A: I actually use the MS 4000 at home; I bought the Perixx for a friend. However, I’ve used it when visiting, and I find the main keyboards virtually identical: the touch is just a little different, but I had no problem with it. The one real difference is in the arrangement of the arrow keys and the block of six keys including Insert, Home, etc.: the former are arranged in a diamond, and the latter in a 3x2 block instead of a 2×3 block. That did take a little getting used to, but I was adapting pretty well even after a short visit.

**Q: Is this a mechanical keyboard? What kind of switch does it uses?**
A: This keyboard uses a rubber dome switch. See my review for full details, but, it has a GREAT snappy tactile feel to it with virtually no clackiness at all. The best way I can describe it is to compare it to a light touch, quiet buckling spring keyboard (think IBM Model M or the newer Unicomp versions). The Cherry MX switches, blue or brown do NOT provide the same sort of feel this board does and I'd take this over mx blue/brown or buckling spring any day of the week. I've had those boards and choose this one due to the key feel and of course the superior split layout. The comfort cannot be beat.

**Q: Any know if this keyboard works with a mac, such as a macbook pro? my old microsoft 4000 ergonomic no longer keeps up its software & soon won't work.**
A: Yes, I use it in a Macbook Pro with High Sierra at work.

**Q: Is this a soft touch keyboard, meaning nonstiff keys, they push well with gentle strokes?**
A: I find that if I don't press hard, I lose keystrokes. I've had the keyboard for a couple of weeks. Before that I had a Logitech cordless comfort duo and this was the closest thing I could find to that but this is a little bit less sensitive than that one was and frankly I find it frustrating. Both had "real" keys not chicklet keys like a laptop.

I'm hoping and expecting to get used to it but for now I'm considering my options because I drop a lot of letters that I didn't with the logitech. Unfortunately they don't make the logitech one anymore and logitech has gone all in on the wave keyboard, which while nice, is less ergo than the cordless comfort.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ I'm sorry - but having the MS4000 on your desk is like parking a aircraft carrier at a 7-11
*by M***K on December 18, 2017*

have used MS Elite keyboards for years and years. Then they went away...and along came the MS4000 series. I'm sorry - but having the MS4000 on your desk is like parking a aircraft carrier at a 7-11. And - the keys were spread out just a bit too far. So far, I'm quite pleased with this Perixx 512. After using the MS4000 - at first it felt the keys were too close or too small. But, i don't think that is really the case. All-in-all, it works fine, hope it lasts a long time....and b-bye MS4000. UPDATE: 3/11/2018 Absolutely no regrets with this keyboard. I have room on my desk again for something other than a keyboard - and all in all it is comfortable to use daily for hours on end. Perixx got a new customer! (Just please don't pull a Microsoft and 'improve' it beyond use!) UPDATE 2: So much for any enduring quality. The left shift key sticks more often than not. If you're just typing along - it's quickly noticeable. But! if your browser is open - the stuck shift key can definitely screw things up. With Firefox - it disables any scroll function....then when you try to restart FF, it wants to do safe mode or refresh. A major PIA to have to reset all the options in the browser. Hence - this keyboard loses 3 stars. I don't believe the 'new' ones are worth fifty bucks being it seems a new one is required every year. UPDATE 3: I am now on medication from using this keyboard. The issue is simple anger. That shift key issue has brought my fist down on it more than once now...and i am within a hair of snapping the whole thing smack in half. I'll put it this way: the keys are the critical component of this manufactured device, and if the manufacturer can't get the keys done right - then they are selling junk knowingly to snag money from hapless victims. It's down to 1 star. FINAL update: In a fit of "I'll get you and your little doggie, too!"....I popped off the Shift and Spacebar keys - and oiled the contact surfaces with some very fine oil I use to lubricate model trains. I wiped it all down so that the oil was oozing anywhere - put it back together - and none of the keys stick anymore. hooray!! My blood pressure probably dropped 20 points in one day!!! next update: So this is like #4, and while the keyboard is just fine, I am once again hugely annoyed with the "let's make a killing" pricing.
