You place receiver end where the Magic Eye was, and the transmitter end where it can see the front of the sky box. Any IR signal detected at the receiver is broadcast by the transmitter. This is then detected by the IR receiver on the front of the sky box.The USB connector simple powers the device. I do not know if the sky box USB connector provides power, but if not simply purchase/use one of the numerous plug to usb charger/power supplies available.Hope this helps. **Q: Hi it doesnt seem to work with my sky + hd box. I have followes the instruction but no luck** A: Do you have the USB lead plugged into the Sky HD box? If so you need to find another power source. For a trial try a mobile phone charger. Make sure one end is facing towards the HD box. I used the smaller end, and it works fine. **Q: Is there meant to be a delay between when you use the remote and when the sky actually respond? Nothing is happening with mine** A: No. Using the repeater should be the same as pointing the remote controller directly at the box you are trying to control. You do need to make sure that your remote control is being 'seen' by the receiving end of the repeater and that the transmitting end is being 'seen' by the box you are trying to control. Neither end can see 360 degrees. The 'sweet spot' for the receiving end seems to be quite small. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great device, even if were more money! *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 15 June 2017* The IR repeater arrived in good time, and at first, (as an engineer) I was a little concerned if such a low cost item would work. Fear not, this device is excellent. I have tested it with 4 IR devices, all being controlled perfectly without glitches (I might add not all at the same time). The device takes USB power (which is now available in 13A extension sockets), and the leads are both long enough to reach my device to control (DVD), and the remote point. We have an outside gazebo pilates and pool area, equipped with sound system/outdoor TV screen, and I wanted to control the DVD player located with the 'core equipment rack' inside our garden changing room. It does this effortlessly, and the range (even outdoors) is impressive. We have Pilates sessions within the gazebo area, and without this device, I would be running in and out of the changing room adjusting sound levels, channels, DVD selection etc, so in my opinion, its worth every penny. Alice @ Pootack was business minded enough to very politely ask me to give honest feedback... so I have! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Working very well. *by on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 6 March 2018* This is the first IR repeater I have used and my inexperience shone through. The first day with this product was very disappointing. It looked like my new TV cabinet was going to stop my digi TV box from working and this device would not work. I then realised that what I thought was the underside of the transmitter, was actually where the IR was transmitted from and needed to placed on the device's IR receiver. After figuring out this bit, it has worked flawlessly. The signal transmitted is clearly not capable of travelling and pointing it at the device from a few inches will not work, it has to be stuck on the device.
