Don't expect the coffee to taste like your V60/Kalita Wave/Chemex Coffee *by S***7 on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 February 2019* I don't review many things, but I relocated from the UK for a while, have used this dripper most days for the past 3 months, and wish I had brought a plastic V60 with me instead. So I want to give other would-be buyers a heads up. If you're going away on a camping trip or travelling for a short period with work or what have you, I think this dripper is great. But if you're used to using other drippers and want to use this every day, for a long period of time, maybe think of something else (like taking your dripper with you (yes, Captain Hindsight is a b***h, that one should've been obvious!).Firstly, the pros. I really like how compact this dripper is. The rubber holder comes away from the plastic cone/metal mesh, meaning that you can pop the cone in a keep cup (or whatever travel cup you have), fold the rubber and place it on top, then put the lid of your travel cup on top. Nice and neat. Saves space. It's easy to assemble and get going (see photos).The reason I bought this was because I moved to Tanzania and feared that I wouldn't be able to find filter papers for a V60 (well, normal papers with the flat bottom that you can fold into a cone shape which work okay with a V60). I knew I wouldn't be able to find Kalita Wave papers and I didn't want to bring 6 months' worth of papers with me. I saw this guy, and thought, for a £7 punt, why not?The cons. Well, it works. I knew it wouldn't produce as good coffee as my drippers back home, but it does work. However, it is slooooow. It stalls/drips painfully slowly. I've tried all grind types - obviously if it's super-coarse then it drips through quickly, but the coffee is naff. I find that an ideal pourover-sized grind doesn't work that well. The volume of water you can add on top of your grounds is not large, so there isn't a great mass acting over the filter in order to push the coffee through. It works okay, the coffee is still alright, but it would be better if the cone were at least 1cm taller, if not 2cm taller. Or the cone could be manufactured with a more acute angle. This would still be travel-sized in my opinion.Seeing as I can find filter papers here, and they're not extortionately expensive, I would've rather had a plastic V60 and use the papers here. I can't get a V60 here so I'm using this and have resorted to using a cafetiere half the time now (I know how that statement makes me sound!). If you're in a similar position to myself, and think you won't be able to find filter papers where you're going, you probably will, so you could take your other dripper (plus this one as an emergency backup?). Filter papers will barely put a dent in your luggage allowance. If you're away for a weekend/week and space is an issue, this dripper will see you through, for sure. I know my expectations/hopes were too high, but I think 3* is a reasonable rating. I might try and modify mine, make the cone taller and see if that helps. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Easy and the only waste produced is the used coffee grounds *by E***D on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 October 2018* Does it exactly what it says on the tin. I used this whilst we were without a coffee machine at work. I didn’t want to waste loads of time faffing about each time I wanted a coffee. This was quick, low mess and zero waste other than the used coffee grounds. Till you come to use it. You put it on top of a coffee mug, put the fresh grounds in, pour a slow thin stream of hot water over it, but alas, because it is solid, you can't see how full the coffee cup is becoming. Inevitably you find out as soon as it spills over.
