This outlet does both, and it's weather resistant to boot. When I first installed this outlet it didn't seem to work (little did I know it was doing it's job). Like many things in this house the old outlet was wired or installed wrong so I couldn't just copy the old install. After confirming the live wire pair with a non-contact voltage tester and turning off the C/B again, I reversed the wires and the circuit came alive when energized. Best of all the green indicator showed is working. The LED on the right side is red and flashes every 90 seconds as a self test. If it goes steady red the GFCI is bad and needs replaced. Brilliant! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ It's charging the hell out of my Samsung note!🤩👍 *by A***E on Reviewed in the United States on August 12, 2019* I just installed it today so there's not really much I can sit there and complain about so far looks beautiful. It looks very well secured I have my Samsung note 9 charger inside for fast charging and it is charging my phone super fast. It came with all kinds of different components that would fit your needs. Depending on where you're going to place its. I have mine on the outside on the back porch because it is weather resistant. When placing this electrical component and please make sure that you have an AC voltage detector. This is for your security if you're not electrician I advise that you have one of these to make sure that you're not going to electric it yourself. That's technically with any outlet that you're getting ready to change or any electrical work that you're about to do. I do suggest the tack life AC voltage detector pen it's inexpensive they sell it right here on Amazon and it does the trick make sure you test this out all over the place before you start trying to plug it into sockets. ### ⭐ Cannot Install Properly *by T***O on Reviewed in the United States on August 20, 2018* This GFI outlet does not have an adequate way to connect the ground wire. The nut needed to attach the connecting screw is inside the unit such that when you unscrew the post to connect the ground wire the nut falls into the inside of the outlet where it cannot be accessed. As a result you cannot attach the necessary ground wire. Poor design.
