Thankfully they don't cost as much! The nursing stethoscope is slightly less expensive than some of the doctors Littmann's but what makes this so good for us is the shape of the head. Being egg shaped it fits snugly under BP cuffs compared to the usual round ones. The build quality of the Littmann is also far superior than that of your usual "cheapie" stethoscope you buy from web sites,and available in some funky colours now as well. That aside make sure you get it labelled because it's the sort of kit that can "grow legs" and walk!! If you want to do a proper job (and I do)! (..I work in a specialist Cardiac Hospital) you need a proper piece of kit. Unfortunately the NHS doesn't buy this sort of stuff anymore so we have to buy our own, but with quality like this it lasts for years.
