If your TV has an HDMI *output* and not any audio outputs (coaxial SPDIF, optical TOSLINK, or analogue (e.g. RCA)), then yes, this should be suitable for you. It takes HDMI input, splits the audio to coax, optical and analogue and it also gives you an HDMI output with the HDMI signal intact.Obviously, it should also be suitable if you drive your TV from en external source and want to drive the Denon device directly from it. What attracted me to the Neet device vs others is the co-ax digital connection as I have a spare one on the Denon whilst all the optical ports have been used up.I particularly wanted to have Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 audio and this Neet audio converter nicely provides that. When switched to 'mode A' the TV dictates the audio track (if there is a stereo and surround track in the movie file) that the Apple TV uses ... my TV forces the Apple TV to use the stereo track and so the best that the Denon can do is process it into Dolby ProLogic II. With the Neet switched to 'mode B' the Apple TV will select the surround track (if there is one) and the Denon will process this correctly as a 5.1 signal. The only downside (and this is due to the HDMI sending only one type of audio signal) is that when the surround track is used there will be no audio from the TV speakers, i.e. the Denon must be used, and so I need to retrain the family to switch on the Denon AVR and click the right audio input source when watching movies. This isn't so difficult as we use a programmable Logitech Harmony One remote control. The switch on the Neet box is quite small and, while switching A/B modes works well to change the audio track being used even during playback, I don't want to have the kids stress-testing it.4 stars for two reasons: it would be nice if all cables where on the back and the switch was bigger on the front; I've only had the device for a few days so cannot say how reliable it is and it's not cheap (compared to the others). ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars If you are looking to extract audio from HDMI, this is the device to go with *by F***4 on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 11 February 2015* After being intrigued by an interesting link concerning a Chromecast paired with a VGA converter that had AUX out in an attempt to connect the Chromecast to any 3.5mm speaker, I decided to investigate. As I am subscribed to Google Music the ability to connect my Chromecast to any 3.5mm speaker made a lot of sense, as I could take advantage of the streaming service without constantly having the TV on. I read reviews on the 'VGA solution' but the seemingly recurring message was that the DAC in the £10 device was very very poor - as music was main concern this seemed a waste of money. As I had a spare FiiO Taishan DAC laying about I decided to look for a device that was capable of separating digital audio from the Chromecasts HDMI and let the dedicated FiiO DAC do the conversion. Having used Neet before and been impressed with the price/performance I decided to go with them once again and am I glad I did!Pros:Easy to setup, literally plug and playDedicated switch for allowing maximum compatibility (Position 1 - allows the HDMI source to handshake with the receiver, thus communicating the most compatible audio format, usually 2.0 pcm, which is then split by the Neet device.
