Badly pressed for time this Shrove Tuesday I whipped up only the 'classic' batter recipe from the booklet - this took about 3 minutes. From 3 eggs and half pack butter it felt like I fed the five thousand - it made at least 11 deep waffles (I lost count). I divided the batter 3 ways. Feta, sundried toms and chives, with black pepper: verdict - very tasty but will be much better when made with a savoury, unsweetened batter Fresh blueberries with extra vanilla bean paste: verdict - perfect just as you dream your homemade waffles are going to taste Chocolate orange, with orange zest, chopped black choc with candied orange and good cocoa: verdict - OUTSTANDING! worth the cost of the machine for these alone So I added lots of sticky stuff ... no issue whatsoever, waffles lifted effortlessly. Machine has timing options, but on average cook time about 5 minutes. This ditz particularly thrilled that I can get distracted and wander off and still they won't burn due to auto 'done' function....yet you can keep them warm / crisp them up again much as you like. This is a much better machine, the control is far more simple (even though it appears more complex), the waffles are alot thicker due to deeper plates (main concern of the "no mess" version). Having had both, i gave the other one away and kept this one, this is "the" only waffle maker you will ever need or want, much much better than the round one. **Q: Does this have a warranty?** A: I don't remember and I'm not sure that this warranty works outside of UK. **Q: I have just ordered this and expect delivery tomorrow. Has anyone got a good low carb waffle recipe they would share?** A: Mmm you need milk to make the waffles...how about coconut or almond milk? Are they better regarding carbs? I use gluten free flour & I substitute a spoonful of sugar with coconut sugar. I got my recipe from Jamie Oliver...150g self raising flour, 240ml of milk, 1 egg, I tsp of vanilla extract, 1 tsp sugar, 1 tsp of baking powder! The mixture makes approx 2.5 waffles! They’re fab! I make them for my children every other day & they adore them! By comparison, the Sage is solid and robust and feels like it will last forever. The moat around the hotplates to catch any spills is a simple but great idea and keeps the machine clean. It has multiple settings for different types of waffle, adjustments for cooking time that you prefer, and even a 'bit more' button, so with a bit of tasty practice you can get your perfect waffle The plates themselves are heavily treated with anti stick stuff, but we do spray with releasing oil - PME Release A Cake Spray 600 ml and the waffles simply fall out leaving no residue at all. It's well worth looking at this book too - Will It Waffle? - falafel waffles, intriguing and very tasty..
