The side that faces your skin is velvety soft and even slightly absorbent. Extremely comfortable. The Velcro straps work well without any kind of scratching or irritation. The adjustability allows it to be placed on your neck, wrist, ankle, and even your knee.I’ve used similarly constructed warm eye compresses. Those ones that I’ve used get warm on their own. This one does not get very warm at all. Instead, it relies on your own body heat to radiate into the pack and hold it. So yes, it does work and it does help to keep areas of the body comfortably warm. But it’s not going to get as warm as those similar eye compresses.That’s going to be perfect for many people, including the elderly that might not be able to gauge how warm some thing is getting. And in addition, you also get the benefit of the herbs that are in the pack. They are not overly fragrant. Sturdy enough that you could use more than once, although they are individually packaged in a foil pack so that the herbs stay fresh and the whole device stays sanitary. That makes them great to talk in a suitcase.As an experiment, I tried putting them in the microwave for additional heat. 10 seconds is the sweet spot. No more, no less.
