Review: Strong magnet - I use this as part of a telescope rig. I cover the light with a spot of red tape and use it to light a setting circle for a Dobsonian telescope. The flexible shaft is long enough to reach anywhere within about a 12" radius - far more adjustability than I actually need, but it will be able to adapt to future needs, no problem. Since this is placed at foot level, I greatly appreciate that the magnet is strong enough that I don't dislodge it by bumping with my feet. I can imagine many other uses for this - automotive repair, crafts, electronics, etc. This is the kind of light that you will find uses for.

A: Yes, it is possible. You would need to make an adapter spool to keep the 18650 centered in the battery barrel.

A: The main body measured over the knurled center area "Explorer area" is 1.420 inches, at the larger flared magnetic base is 1.640 inches, the lamp head is.790 inches.

**Q: Can the base hang magnetically sideways? Or only vertical?**
A: Yes, the magnet is powerful enough to allow you to stick it to the front of your refridg (or any other vertical iron-based surface) and adjust the flex straight out

**Q: How stable is the lamp on a nonmagnetic surface?**
A: This lamp will not stay upright on a non magnetic surface.

The flexible shaft is long enough to reach anywhere within about a 12" radius - far more adjustability than I actually need, but it will be able to adapt to future needs, no problem. Since this is placed at foot level, I greatly appreciate that the magnet is strong enough that I don't dislodge it by bumping with my feet. I can imagine many other uses for this - automotive repair, crafts, electronics, etc. This is the kind of light that you will find uses for.
