Review: Oil burner! - I’m using this for a waste oil burning stove. It is way overpowered even closed, the closed cover does not stop the air movement. It blows a lot of cfm. It is fairly quiet. It works well for what I’m doing with it, I had to change my burner pot design to accommodate the volume of air that this thing moves. It is a cheap Chinese motor and casting. The quality control seems awful, but for the price you aren’t going to get any other squirrel cage blower this size. Unable to use a speed potentiometer to speed control it so if you are after that, this motor will not support it. If you are using it for a forge or a waste oil burner it will definitely move the air you need and some.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Will this blower work with a forced air ribbon burner on a propane forge?**
A: I use it on a 3" x 11" ribbon burner and have to choke it about 30%

**Q: Is this ac, dc, or universal motor driven?**
A: As specified, 110-120 Volts AC-60 Cycles and draws about 250 watts when running.  works fine on my blown forge but a little noisy.

**Q: Is this thermally protected?**
A: I do not know, maybe the seller can ask the manufacturer. However...most of these single phase induction motors (phasing capacitor should be inside casing next to motor ~24uf 250V or greater) have a thermal fuse inside the motor. Usually an SEFUSE SF129E. It will be inside woven braid silica (aka fiber glass) sleeve tightly bonded to stator windings and connected via two miniature crimps, usually open barrel. The silica sleeve and rope (1-2.5mm sleeve can be used for the rope) is usually doped with red insulating varnish like MG Chemicals 4228. The thermal fuse is a one shot. It does not reset. This is to protect the motor (stator) windings from burning out and the motor from catching on fire. Yes I have replaced them before on other blower motors but not this one so I do not know if it is there on this one. If it isn't, you can add one if you want. Follow the black mains wire to the windings (magnet wire), it goes in series between whatever winding wires are there (usually two bonded together) and the black mains. Note: the motor wire may be brown or whatever but follow whatever it is from the black mains service connection (aka hot), not the white (neutral) or green (ground). Not red or blue either. And it does not go inline with the capacitor. Note: to function properly, it must be tightly bonded (tied) next to one of the bundles of stator windings. All the winding bundles are tied in this fashion and must be for optimum performance. A $1 item (thermal fuse) that can save a $50+ motor. Unless of course you like rewinding stators? I don't! All the materials; silica sleeve, fuses, varnish, and crimps are right here on Amazon.

**Q: Will this work in nz at 240v dc?**
A: no this is an ac system. you can run of a generator or a inverter, that converts dc to ac.  hope this helps....  dave m.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Runs my 27 jet ribbon burner like a boss

I like this blower. I’m using it to drive a 27 jet ribbon burner. The body is cast aluminum with a aluminum blade. Although the switch is a cheap one, I have it paired with a speed controller so it’s of no matter. The housing halves mate nicely and the blade runs smoothly. The blade has obvious balancing drill marks, they took time to balance it. The 2.5” outlet will acccept a 2” pipe internally with a single wrap of duct tape as a gasket. It is quite, much more so than a hair dryer an though I hanvent measured I’d ballpark it in the 45-50db range. It’s quieter then my microwave fan on high. I’m knockong off a star for the cheap switch but I’d imagine most people are just cutting power vs flipping the switch anyway. The output is substantial, it will dump a fire pot at full tilt. I’m running a 27 jet ribbon burner and I never go above half speed, which is why I’m going with a gate valve over a speed controller. The fan does work with it but I don’t like how it operates, not very smooth or consistent in adjustment. Overall I’m pleased with this blower. It performs very well and has plenty of CFM while remaining quiet and pleasing to the eye.
