Is this machine better?** A: WAY better. I had the Powermatic II for several years and it was impossible to control the tobacco. With the Powermatic III, the tobacco is all contained in a chamber with a lid that closes. It's a much better design. The chamber holds enough tobacco to roll approximately 20-30 cigarettes, depending on how tightly you pack it. (don't go too tight...it will jam the feeder chamber at the bottom). I've had this machine since December 2019 and have rolled over 7000 cigarettes with it. I cannot recommend it highly enough! Hope this helps; Good Luck! **Q: Do you have to load tubes by hand** A: Yes, you load the tubes by hand on the left side of the unit. The tray looking thing on the top is simply storage as there is no tray catch for finished cigarettes on the left side. Putting the tubes on is a tiny bit easier than the Powermatic II as the receiver is a bit more forgiving for tubes with mis-shaped or slightly folded ends. **Q: How many cigarettes worth of tobacco does the hopper hold on average** A: I don't see how anyone can get 42-45 cigs per hopper load. I'd guess I get about 20-25. But my tobacco is somewhat fluffy and I do not try to pack it full or anything like that. It only takes a little experience to find what works best for you. To fine of a cut of tobacco is no good. Too moist is no good. I also stop and stir the tobacco and add more as I go along. I don't even chop my tobacco as the brand I am using seems to work well. This machine works great IMO so don't be put off thinking you can't achieve great results. You will. **Q: how do I set the density? Neither button brings up the density display.** A: I’ve only had mine for <8 months but I received the one that has the density levels. My left sided button cycles through 3 levels unlike what I’m hearing is the newer model that cycles through King, King+ & 100’s.
