Review: Game changer-- must have - I don't write reviews for things I buy very often, but this little machine has changed my life so much that I have to. Whoever invented this should be nominated for the Nobel Prize. This thing is a miracle machine. My son is 20 months old and I can count the number of times that he slept through the night on one hand-- that is until about 3 weeks ago when we bought this machine. I saw the concept of an "ok to wake" alarm but was not sure if it would work for a kid as young as mine. Then I saw a review from a lady with an 18 month old who seemed to have a similar sleep pattern to my son. My son would wake up 3-4 times every night and need some degree of soothing to go back down. If he woke up after about 3-4 am (what we came to know as 'the witching hour'), there would be no hope of getting him to go deeply back to sleep and the best you could do was get him to lay down and nod off for 15 minute increments for as long as you could. That worked best with one of sleeping on the ground beside the crib. At some point, he would wake fully up, and at that point there would be no getting him back to sleep. You just had to wake up and start the day with him. We tried really hard to at least get him to 5 am, but it didn't always work. 5:30 was a stretch goal and 6 seemed like a near impossibility. Enter the hatch. I followed the procedure used by the lady whose review I read-- I set the alarm for 5:30 on the first night after having a talk with him before bed about how the red light meant it was time to sleep and green meant it was ok to wake up. When he woke up in the night, we told him over the baby monitor that the light was still red so he would need to lay down. To our surprise, he actually did after a few minutes. He whined a little bit but didn't start to cry like he normally would if we didn't go in the room. He woke up fully that morning before the light turned green and started crying out for us. Like the woman described, I reset the wake time for about 5 minutes out so he would not have to spend so long in distress. Then when the light turned green, I went in and made a big production of how the light was green so he could wake up. Each day I set the time a few minutes later until we finally got to where it is currently set-- 6:15. I'm not sure why, but he just gets it. It took a couple of weeks of him waking in the night and whining for us but going easily back to sleep when we tell him over the speaker that the red light means it's still night night time. After a few weeks of that he does it completely on his own. If he wakes up, he looks at the red light and just goes back to sleep. Most nights now he sleeps fully through the night and does not wake up until after 6. If he happens to wake up fully before it turns green, he lays down watching it until it turns green then pops up. He's sleeping so well that he's in a great mood when he wakes up. We are sleeping better than we have in a long time ourselves. The thing isn't perfect-- I find the app a little wonky thought it is reasonably easy to use. I think it's a bit difficult to change the routine or wake time while the current routine is running. When you try, it just turns the machine off. That's annoying if you are trying to make a change while he is sleeping. Some of the more advanced features like the stories and lullabies are a bit too complicated for our boy I think. We keep it simple with orange light and quiet music to wind down with books before bed, red light with the ocean sound effect for sleep (I recommend a pretty good volume) and green light to wake up (keeping the sound going so he won't be woken by the change in sound and will still sleep if his body wants to). If we start wanting to encourage him to wake up at a certain time I think I will have the sounds change to birds chirping. Long story short-- this thing changed our lives, and I just gifted one to a friend who is expecting a baby to give her the gift of sleep.
Review: A Total Sleep Game-Changer for Our Family - We’ve been using the Hatch Baby Sound Machine, and I can confidently say it’s one of the best baby purchases we’ve made. From the moment we set it up, we were impressed. The design is beautiful and modern — the mint color is soft and calming, and it blends perfectly into our nursery decor. It doesn’t look like a typical “baby gadget,” which I really appreciate. Setup was quick and easy using the app, and the Wi-Fi connectivity has been seamless. Being able to control everything from my phone is incredibly convenient — especially during middle-of-the-night wakeups when I don’t want to fully get out of bed. I can adjust brightness, change sounds, or tweak the volume without disturbing my baby. The sound quality is excellent. The white noise is steady and soothing (no harsh looping or static), and the variety of sounds and lullabies gives us flexibility as our baby’s needs change. We’ve also started using some of the bedtime stories as part of our routine, and it’s been such a sweet addition. The night light is one of my favorite features. It’s fully customizable in both brightness and color, which makes nighttime feedings and diaper changes so much easier. We use a dim warm tone overnight and switch to a soft color during our bedtime routine. It creates a clear cue for sleep time. The Time-to-Rise feature is fantastic for the future toddler stage. Even though our little one is still small, I love knowing this will grow with them and help build independent sleep habits later on. Since using the Hatch, we’ve noticed longer stretches of sleep and smoother bedtime transitions. It has truly helped us establish a predictable, calming routine — and that has made a huge difference for the whole family. If you’re on the fence, I highly recommend it. It’s thoughtfully designed, high quality, and genuinely helpful. Five stars all the way!

**Q: What happens after 6 months if I don’t renew the premium subscription?**
A: Without renewal, you’ll keep basic lights, sounds, and cues like Time-for-Bed and Time-for-Rise. With renewal ($69.99/year or $6.99/month), you’ll retain full access to all premium content and features.

**Q: What’s the difference between White Noise and Pink Noise for my baby?**

**Q: Where should I place Hatch Baby in the room?**
A: Place Hatch Baby at least 3 feet from your baby’s sleep space, ideally near the door to block outside noise. Keep cords tucked away and never place the device on the crib.

**Q: What kind of support do your Sleep Consultants provide?**
A: Our Sleep Consultants provide behavioral sleep strategies and evidence-based guidance tailored to your child. However, they cannot provide medical advice. For any significant decisions regarding your child’s health, always consult your pediatrician.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent for sleep at any age, easy to use, Looks great!
*by M***B on April 3, 2026*

I was given the Hatch Rest 2nd Gen for my first baby, and thought it might be a little bit overkill. However, we have only used it more and more as our child has grown. Now for number two, I decided to upgrade to the Hatch Baby. They've made some great upgrades over the years: -night light function: you just press a button on the side and a gentle light comes on so you can nurse/change a diaper/whatever you need to do without turning on the overhead light or needing a separate lamp. You also don't need to have your phone to control this. When you're up in the middle of the night and exhausted, its super simple and super handy to have this function. (see video for functionality) -the button on top is now the control instead of a touch ring to start/stop your programmed lights. I actually like the button a bit more because you can control the on/off and the volume with it very easily (see video). As your child grows they will be able to easily operate it (more on that below). There is another button on the bottom that controls brightness. -There is now an AI sleep guide and pointers about sleep. I'm a bit of a stickler about the kid getting plenty of sleep (because that means I get plenty of sleep), and I think this product really helps you from birth to set some good groundwork for healthy sleep habits. The Hatch Baby app is easy to use, easy to make different programs for your baby (for example white light/noise for a certain number of minutes after you put them to sleep). We used temporary white noise when our first was younger, but now we use the Hatch as a night light (growing minds/imaginations seem to have more fear of the dark), and we are also using the ability to program in a 'wake-up' light to teach our child when it is time to get up (otherwise they know they can keep sleeping). Also, the versatility with colors of light (there are over 20 options) and different types of sound (from white/pink noise to rain, fan, etc) has made it so there is something to fit all of our needs (for example we started with a gentle white light, but as our child decided purple was the best color ever and was having some fear of the dark, we changed the light to purple and she instantly (no joke) went back to sleeping through the night). You can control multiple hatch products via the app very easily. To me, the look doesn't matter as much as the functionality, but I do like how sleek the product is-looks nice in any space without needing to be the focal point. Overall, I'd say I was a bit of a skeptic, but now couldn't imagine bedtime/middle-of-the-night time, etc without this product--to the point that I bought it again!
