The bristles are a stiff but flexible plastic which in my opinion makes it better than the Lodge brush. They are stronger and better able to get a good clean cast iron vs the bristles on the Lodge brush feel TOO soft and dense. The bristles on this brush are spread out in bunches which makes it less like to get gunked up with grease and debris and it’s easier to clean. We use two different scrub brushes for doing dishes: this one for cast irons only and another for all the other dishes.
