Review: Good deplin alternative - I took deplin for years. The price got outta hand. 68 for one month, $200 for 3 months. This is half the price and I’d say does just as good in my opinion. A slight difference but I still feel happy and better than without. With deplin I get a bit of a “rush” of energy especially with my vyvanse. I’d say I feel pretty much the same maybe slightly less. But my mood and focus is just as good. Deplin made me nauseous, this does too still so I recommend take it with a meal or eat right after. If you’re considering it as an alternative I’d highly recommend. I was very worried I wouldn’t find something similar but this works well. Update after a few weeks. Still a great deplin alternative in my opinion. I actually don’t feel much difference. Happy I took the chance here and really hope this review can help someone who’s worried about alternatives.

**Q: How does this compare to Deplin 15mg capsules?**
A: Please buy your Deplin 15 from BDH. It is only $58/month and they will deliver a 90 day supply. I complained to my doctor about how expensive it was to buy this at the pharmacy and he said he’d send my script to BDH. If you go to the Deplin website they are listed at the bottom as providers. They are great to work with and call a week before your script needs to be refilled. I’ve found this to be the best methylated folic acid and since I need it I don’t want to mess around with anything, but what my doctor ordered.

**Q: what is the difference from L-methylfolate and L-methylfolate ca?**
A: 5-MTHF L-Methylfolate goes by various names. What is most important is the "salt's" molecular form type (Calcium or Glucosamine) used in manufacture of the supplement. This determines two factors: immediate potency (bio-availability of the MTHF) and long-term potency or stability. When Calcium salt is used, about 72-79% of the bioactive MTHF is available immediately. When Glucosamine salt is used, half that amount is available (or 36-40%). Also, long-term stability using Calcium salt is much better, losing maybe 1-2% potency 12 months after it is manufactured . **Q: Is this metafolin, extrafolate-s, magnafolate-c, or a generic/racemic type of l-methylfolate?**
A: This is L- Methylfolate. A really good brand. It's been prescribed to me by my doc, and its an effective treatment especially for those with MTHFR gene mutations.

**Q: Does this use crystalline or amorphous calcium salt?**
A: Source Materials: L-5-methylfolate, calcium salt: synthetic. Glycine: synthetic. Cellulose for capsules is derived from softwood tree pulp.

i'm on 8 different psych meds currently (dont worry i won't list them all lol), and my psychiatrist recommended that i get a gene test done to see how my body processes my medications. after i got the results, we landed on this supplement to add to my daily medication regimen. i've been using it for about 5-6 months now and i will say, i am feeling better mentally and that all of my medications are working well, especially the ADHD stimulants. the only downside is how expensive this L-methylfolate is. it sucks having to spend an extra $30 a month when my medications are already so expensive but for now i think its worth it? i'll come back and edit when its been a year.
