So my reviews for each are pretty much the same. Just depends on if you want the larger pieces (whole) or the smaller pieces (quartered). I find that the quartered saves me a step, and is easier to distribute in a recipe.I dont go through a lot of artichoke hearts, but I love having them on hand. I buy by the case because the price per can is better deal than in store nearly always.I find that artichoke hearts add a bit of flavor and texture in a variety of dishes. Also makes nice addition to a quick pasta meal. Just simple cooked pasta, some butter or olive oil, salt and pepper and a can of artichokes. Add more of whatever if you have time, inclination.These have good taste and texture. Not at all hard to chew and not at all too mushy. Soft, yes, but not mush. Holds up fine in pasta. Perfect for dips. Budget friendly. I like bulking out my meals, and sometimes a little artichoke is nice as they are so low in calories. These are packed in brine. Not oil. So yeh, taste will be a little more tangy. I lightly rinse mine. Looks good.I have added to pasta, sandwiches, added to dips, added to roasted vegetables, etc.For quick sandwich, I like making a smashed bean paste (butter bean or garbanzo bean)-- not quite hummus but same idea. Spread it on bread, top with artichokes and fire roasted red pepper slices, then grill it.
